This is the Wellington Lions jersey from the 1997 National Provincial Championship. It features the classic black and gold colour scheme worn during a tight NPC season.

Key names include Norm Hewitt, who captained Wellington later in 2000 but was already a dominant forward presence in the late ’90s.Also breaking in that year was Paul Steinmetz, who made his debut for Wellington in 1997.
